The table shows the different sources of student income in United Kingdom aged under 26 in higher education during the period 1988 to 1999.
The most significant general change was a shift from having the grant as a major sources of student income to the student loan.
Student loan went up sharply over a ten-year period while parental contribution fell from 32%to 16% and also there was a substantial decrease in having the grant for the student income. Besides, student earnings steadily increased from 6% to 14% with the exception of the year 1988 to 1999 which went down by 2% from 14% to 12% and other sources of student income also had a steady growth from 24% to make up 34% of total income with only a slight decrease in the year 1992-1993.
